Liverpool midfield ace Georginio Wijnaldum says there was nothing concrete on offer from Barcelona, despite reports throughout the summer linking him to the Catalan side.
The Dutchman, who is in the last year of his contract with the Merseyside giants, also expressed his desire to stay in Liverpool beyond his contract’s duration.
Responding to the speculation over his future, Wijnaldum said: ‘I don’t think it was that serious, otherwise you would have read a bit more, or more would have happened.
“There was nothing precise. The way it looks now, I will stay in Liverpool. My contract is valid for another 10 months and that can change. You never know in football. We will see what happens.”
Speaking before the end of the transfer window, Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp refused to speculate over the future of the man that Barca coach Ronald Koeman is a known admirer of.
“I cannot speak about the future in a few years but it is all fine. It’s all good for the moment,” Klopp said. “You know the situation. Between me, Gini and the club, everything is completely fine.”
