At least five Manchester United players have not travelled for their Champions League opener against Paris Saint-Germain.
Harry Maguire, Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood will not be part of the team as are injured players, defender Eric Bailly and midfielder Jesse Lingard.
The news will come as a blow for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of the Group H clash at Parc des Princes on Wednesday.
The club do not feel new signing from PSG Cavani is not fit enough to play following a mandatory 14-day coronavirus quarantine after arriving in the UK.
Bruno Fernandes, meanwhile, will captain the team in the absence of Maguire. The defender had been struggling for form under Solskjaer and was sent off after 32 minutes for England against Denmark last week.
“We’re a little bit depleted but we’ve got more than enough players,” said Solskjaer.
“We hope the players won’t be away for too long. Edinson needs a few more days training before we can say on the weekend. Hopefully Harry, Mason and Eric too but we’re not sure about that.”
