Spanish giants Barcelona are planning a move for Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden at the end of the season, when he will be entering the final year of his current contract.
The 25-year-old has been negotiating a potential contract extension with the 10 time champions since November, but the two sides have yet to reach an agreement.
Phil Foden experienced a challenging 2024–25 season after the highs of the previous campaign, in which he won the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award and played a leading role in guiding his boyhood club to an unprecedented fourth consecutive Premier League title.
Competition for places has intensified for Phil Foden following the January arrival of Antoine Semenyo from AFC Bournemouth.
The 26-year-old Ghana international has made an outstanding start to his career at Etihad Stadium, quickly validating the £62.5 million fee paid to bring him in midway through the campaign.
Omar Marmoush has also impressed since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, while both Jeremy Doku and Savinho are back from injury.
As a result, Foden now finds himself battling for the No.10 role alongside summer arrivals Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders.
