German Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are weighing up whether to make a move for out of favour Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli (24) who the Gunners are said to value at £50million.

While manager Vincent Kompany initially favoured a move for Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao, the Spaniard clearly made it known he only wants to sign for Barcelona.

A dip in form for Martinelli who contributed 15 goals and assists in 51 games last season has prompted coach Mikel Arteta to consider bringing in players who can improve the left wing more.

Bayern believe they can snatch the Brazilian star from Arsenal and improve his output although other reports indicate Martinelli is not the only name being considered as Liverpool duo Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo have admirers at the Allianz Arena.

Since joining Arsenal in a £6m move from Brazilian side Ituano in 2019, Martinelli has scored 51 goals and provided 29 assists in 225 appearances. The 2022-23 season was his best with 15 goals and six assists.

The Bild newspaper in Germany reports that Kompany is keen to bolster his options after losing Leroy Sane on a free transfer to Turkish giants Galatasaray.

A report by The Athletic says Arsenal value Martinelli at around £50million and are in a strong bargaining position having earlier this year handed him a contract extension until 2027.
