Former Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has made a dramatic return to UEFA Champions League football after French club Marseille re-signed the prolific striker from Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah.
Aubameyang now aged 36, scored 30 goals and provided 11 assists in 51 appearances across all competitions for Marseille in the 2023-24 season.
It’s worth noting that these figures had not been reached since Didier Drogba in the 2003/04 season (32 goals) before the Ivorian joined Chelsea.
Aubameyang also cemented his legendary status at the Orange Velodrome by becoming the all-time top scorer in the UEFA Europa League surpassing Radamel Falcao’s 30 goals to reach 31.
It looks like Marseille were quite keen on having his talents at their disposal once again given Auba maintained his standards in the Saudi Pro League by scoring 17 goals last season.
