Manchester City are in advanced talks with Saudi Pro League side Al Qadsiah over a deal that could see Tijjani Reijnders leave the Etihad Stadium after just one season.
Negotiations between the two clubs are progressing positively over a package worth around €60 million (£51.3 million), according to the latest information from Sky Sports News reporters Mark McAdam and Lyall Thomas.
Al Qadsiah have identified the Netherlands international as a major target as they prepare for their first campaign in the AFC Champions League Elite.
The Saudi club regard Reijnders as a world-class midfielder who is entering the peak years of his career. At 28, he would bring both European and international experience to a team looking to strengthen significantly before competing on the continental stage.
Al Qadsiah secured their place in the 2026-27 AFC Champions League Elite after finishing fourth in the Saudi Pro League with 77 points. The qualification marked the club’s return to continental competition.
Their ambitions also extend beyond the transfer market, with Al Qadsiah preparing to move into the new Aramco Stadium.
For City, selling Reijnders would represent a remarkably quick turnaround.
The Dutch midfielder only arrived from AC Milan in June 2025, when Manchester City agreed an initial fee of £46.5 million for him. He had established himself as one of Serie A’s leading midfielders before moving to England.
Reijnders subsequently made 50 appearances during his first season with City, although his position in the squad has come under increased scrutiny following changes to the club’s midfield options.
A €60 million agreement would allow City to recover a significant sum from a player they signed only a year ago.
The potential transfer also comes during a period of considerable movement in City’s midfield.
Barcelona are pursuing Rodri, while City have been linked with Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez as they consider further changes to their squad. The Guardian also reports that City are in advanced discussions over Reijnders’ proposed €60 million move to Al Qadsiah.
However, negotiations between the clubs do not necessarily mean Reijnders’ departure is complete.
Reports on Thursday indicated that the midfielder’s approval would still be required before the move could be finalised.
For Al Qadsiah, landing a Netherlands international from Manchester City would represent another statement of intent as they prepare to compete against Asia’s leading clubs.
With talks now at an advanced stage, Reijnders could become one of the latest high-profile Premier League players to make the move to Saudi Arabia.
