Bayern Munich are on the verge of completing the signing of PSV Eindhoven star Ismael Saibari after reaching an agreement with the Dutch champions on a deal worth up to €55 million.

According to reports from Germany, the Bundesliga giants have agreed a package valued at around €50 million upfront, with performance-related add-ons taking the total fee to approximately €55 million. Only the final contract details and medical examination remain before the transfer is officially confirmed.

The Moroccan international is expected to sign a long-term contract running until 2031, tying him to the German champions for the next six years.

Bayern are carefully managing the final stages of the transfer due to Saibari’s involvement with Morocco at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The 25-year-old is currently with his national team in the United States, and Bayern do not want to disrupt Morocco’s preparations ahead of their upcoming Group C clash against Scotland on June 19.

Instead, plans are in place for Saibari to undergo his medical in the United States once approval is granted by Bayern Munich, PSV Eindhoven and the Moroccan Football Federation.

Conveniently, Bayern’s trusted physician Dr Jochen Hahne is already in America serving as the German national team’s doctor and could conduct the examination on site.

The move represents a significant statement of intent from Vincent Kompany’s side, who accelerated their pursuit of Saibari after failing to secure a deal for Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon.

Bayern quickly identified the PSV playmaker as an ideal alternative following an outstanding campaign in the Netherlands.

Saibari played a pivotal role in PSV’s dominant Eredivisie title triumph, helping the club win the league by a remarkable 19-point margin. His performances earned him the Eredivisie Player of the Season award after he scored 15 goals and provided eight assists in just 27 league appearances.

Since arriving at PSV from KRC Genk’s academy in 2020, Saibari has developed into one of Europe’s most exciting attacking midfielders. He made his senior debut later that year, replacing Mario Gotze during a match against ADO Den Haag.

Over the course of 142 appearances for PSV, the Morocco international registered 42 goals and 28 assists across all competitions.

The transfer is also set to make PSV history.

Should all add-ons be triggered, the deal would surpass the club’s current record sale of Hirving Lozano, who joined Napoli for €50 million in 2019.

Saibari’s move will also be a unique one in Dutch football history. While players such as Arjen Robben, Mark van Bommel, Mario Gotze, Malik Tillman and Ivan Perisic have represented both Bayern Munich and PSV during their careers, no player has ever moved directly from the reigning Eredivisie champions to the German record holders.

With the agreement now in place, Bayern are expected to complete the remaining formalities after Morocco’s next World Cup fixture, bringing one of European football’s most sought-after midfielders to Munich.
