Manchester United have identified Crystal Palace forward Ismaila Sarr as one of their leading attacking targets after an outstanding campaign for both club and country.

The Senegal international has emerged as a serious option for United’s recruitment team as the club continues searching for a forward capable of operating across multiple attacking positions. Initial contact has reportedly been made with Sarr’s representatives as the Red Devils assess the feasibility of a summer move.

Sarr enjoyed the most productive season of his career, playing a central role in Crystal Palace’s UEFA Conference League triumph. He finished the European campaign with nine goals and was named the competition’s Player of the Season, while also scoring nine times in the Premier League to end the campaign with 20 goals in all competitions.

His impressive form continued at the FIFA World Cup, where he scored four goals and provided one assist before Senegal suffered a dramatic last-16 defeat to Belgium after surrendering a two-goal lead. United’s scouts were particularly encouraged by his performances as a central striker, adding another dimension to a player already known for his pace and effectiveness on the wing.

Manchester United remain determined to strengthen their attack despite prioritising midfield additions. Uncertainty surrounding the futures of Joshua Zirkzee and Marcus Rashford has increased the need for another versatile forward, with Sarr now believed to be one of the club’s preferred options.

West Ham United winger Crysencio Summerville has also been monitored, but recent reports suggest Sarr has moved ahead in United’s thinking following his outstanding displays over the past 12 months.

Any deal is expected to be expensive.

Crystal Palace are under no pressure to sell after signing Sarr for less than £15 million in 2024. The Senegal star remains under contract for another three years, leaving the Eagles in a strong negotiating position. Reports suggest Palace would demand a fee well in excess of £45 million before considering any offers.

United could also face competition from abroad, with Juventus among the clubs credited with monitoring Sarr’s progress after his remarkable campaign. Meanwhile, Palace’s new head coach Pierre Sage is understood to be keen to retain one of the club’s most influential players as preparations continue for the new season.

Financial discipline remains central to Manchester United’s recruitment strategy under INEOS. The club recently missed out on Mateus Fernandes after refusing to match Tottenham Hotspur’s guaranteed £85 million offer, highlighting the importance of value in every deal they pursue this summer.

Whether Palace are willing to negotiate remains uncertain, but Sarr’s performances have firmly established him as one of the Premier League’s most sought-after attackers heading into the new campaign.
