Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of Spain World Cup hero Ferran Torres from Barcelona in a deal worth around €50 million (£42.75m).
The 26-year-old has signed a contract running until 2031, bringing an end to his four-and-a-half-year spell at Barcelona and adding another major attacking option to Luis Enrique’s squad.
Torres arrives in Paris with his reputation enhanced considerably following Spain’s triumph at the 2026 World Cup.
The forward scored the decisive extra-time goal against Argentina in the final, securing a 1-0 victory and Spain’s second World Cup crown.
His move also reunites him with Luis Enrique, who previously coached Torres with the Spanish national team. The PSG boss has been an admirer of the forward and believes his versatility will suit the European champions’ attacking system.
Torres can operate through the middle or from either wing, giving PSG additional flexibility after further changes to their forward line this summer.
PSG had identified the Spaniard as a priority target despite already strengthening their attacking options with the arrival of Maghnes Akliouche. Gonçalo Ramos, meanwhile, has left Paris for AC Milan.
Torres leaves Barcelona following one of the most productive seasons of his career.
He scored 21 goals and provided three assists in 49 appearances last season as Barcelona successfully defended their La Liga title.
The former Valencia and Manchester City attacker originally joined Barcelona from City in January 2022. His time at the Catalan club ultimately produced 65 goals in 207 appearances and seven trophies.
His departure also provides Barcelona with significant funds at an important point in their own summer transfer plans.
The Catalan giants have been pursuing Manchester City midfielder Rodri and have already had bids rejected by the Premier League club. The money generated from Torres’ departure could strengthen Barcelona’s position should they decide to return with another proposal.
For PSG, however, the immediate focus is on adding a player who arrives at the Parc des Princes at arguably the strongest point of his career.
Torres’ performances for Barcelona and his World Cup heroics have made him one of Spain’s most prominent attacking players, while his previous relationship with Luis Enrique should help him adapt quickly to the demands of his new manager.
He will wear the No. 9 shirt in Paris as PSG look to maintain their dominance in France and continue challenging for Europe’s biggest prizes.
After weeks of speculation, Torres’ move is now complete — and PSG have landed one of the standout players from Spain’s World Cup-winning campaign.
