Tijjani Reijnders has arrived in Saudi Arabia as the Manchester City midfielder prepares to complete his €61 million transfer to Al Qadsiah.

The two clubs have reached an agreement over the Netherlands international, clearing the way for Reijnders to finalise the move after accepting Al Qadsiah’s proposal. Reports on Tuesday confirmed he was travelling to Saudi Arabia for the closing stages of the transfer.

Manchester City are set to receive €61m, approximately £52m, for the 28-year-old, who is leaving the Etihad after just one season in English football.

The transfer represents a quick turnaround for City after they signed Reijnders from AC Milan in the summer of 2025 for around £46m.

Despite showing flashes of his quality, Reijnders struggled to establish himself as an automatic starter throughout his debut Premier League campaign.

He nevertheless made 50 appearances across all competitions, scoring seven goals and contributing eight assists during his only season in Manchester.

Al Qadsiah’s pursuit gathered pace last week when the Saudi Pro League club reached an agreement with City over the financial package. Reijnders subsequently gave the green light to the move, allowing the transfer to progress towards completion.

The Dutch midfielder will join an ambitious Al Qadsiah project under former Liverpool and Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers.

Al Qadsiah finished fourth last season and are strengthening their squad ahead of their first AFC Champions League Elite campaign. Reijnders has been identified as a major midfield addition as the club continues investing heavily in its squad.

His departure also forms part of a major overhaul at Manchester City under new manager Enzo Maresca.

City have already brought in England midfielder Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest, while Lille youngster Ayyoub Bouaddi is another major target. Rodri is also leaving the Etihad for Barcelona, meaning City’s midfield could look significantly different when the new Premier League season begins.

Reijnders’ move will therefore provide City with another substantial transfer fee as they continue rebuilding their squad.

The midfielder’s arrival in Saudi Arabia means the deal has now entered its final stages, with the remaining formalities expected to be completed before his move to Al Qadsiah is officially announced.
