Nottingham Forest have agreed a £22 million deal with Crystal Palace to sign Colombia international Daniel Muñoz, with the defender now set to undergo a medical before completing his move to the City Ground.
Palace have given the 30-year-old permission to travel after the clubs reached an agreement on Saturday. Muñoz is expected to have his medical on Sunday before signing a contract running until June 2029.
Forest’s successful move will reunite Muñoz with manager Oliver Glasner, who worked with the attacking right-back during their highly successful spell together at Selhurst Park.
Forest win race for Muñoz
Forest initially submitted a package worth £20 million plus £2 million in add-ons for Muñoz, with Palace considering the proposal as negotiations intensified ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
Talks progressed rapidly on Saturday. Fabrizio Romano reported earlier in the day that Forest were in direct contact with Palace and that Muñoz was keen on making the move.
An agreement has now been reached at around £22 million, according to multiple reports, clearing Muñoz to travel for his medical.
The deal represents a significant profit for Palace, who signed Muñoz from Belgian side Genk in January 2024 for around £6.9 million.
Glasner gets reunion with trusted Palace star
Glasner has been a driving force behind Forest’s pursuit after working closely with Muñoz at Palace.
The Colombian became one of the Premier League’s most effective attacking wing-backs under the Austrian and played a significant role in Palace’s most successful period.
Muñoz made 109 appearances for Palace in all competitions, scoring 11 goals and providing 16 assists. He helped the Eagles win the FA Cup, Community Shield and Conference League.
His performances also carried over to international football. Muñoz scored in Colombia’s opening two matches at the 2026 World Cup as his country reached the last 16.
The defender had attracted interest elsewhere, including from Everton, but Forest have now moved decisively to secure his signature.
Palace had already prepared for possible exit
Signs that Muñoz could leave Selhurst Park intensified after Palace strengthened the right side of their squad.
The Eagles signed Anan Khalaili, who can operate as either a right wing-back or winger, while Muñoz was left on the bench for Friday’s 4-1 Premier League defeat by Manchester City.
Palace head coach Pierre Sage described that omission as a sporting decision, but negotiations with Forest accelerated following the match.
For Forest, Muñoz will become another significant addition during a busy summer under Glasner, following the arrivals of players including Liam Delap and Ousmane Diomande.
The transfer is not yet officially complete, with Muñoz still required to undergo his medical and complete the remaining formalities. However, with the clubs in agreement and Palace granting permission to travel, the Colombian is now on the verge of becoming a Nottingham Forest player.
