Arsenal are closely monitoring Lille wonderkid Ayyoub Bouaddi after the Moroccan teenager enhanced his growing reputation with a standout performance against Brazil at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The 18-year-old midfielder has quickly emerged as one of the most exciting young talents in European football and is now attracting serious interest from some of the continent’s biggest clubs.
Bouaddi caught the eye during Morocco’s impressive 1-1 draw with Brazil, producing a mature display in midfield against a star-studded opposition that included Casemiro, Bruno Guimaraes and Lucas Paqueta. The teenager not only dictated possession with remarkable composure but also won 11 duels, underlining both his technical quality and physical presence.
His performance earned widespread praise, including from former Arsenal and France midfielder Emmanuel Petit.
Petit described Bouaddi as one of the most promising young players in French football and highlighted his confidence, tactical intelligence and ability to perform under pressure. The World Cup display only reinforced why Europe’s elite clubs have been tracking him for several seasons.
Arsenal are among those admirers.
The Gunners have been linked with the Lille midfielder as Mikel Arteta continues planning for the future of his midfield. Bouaddi’s versatility, athleticism and ability to retain possession make him an attractive option for a side looking to compete for major honours both domestically and in Europe.
European football expert Andy Brassell believes Bouaddi could be an ideal partner for Declan Rice in Arsenal’s midfield.
According to Brassell, Arsenal may evolve tactically next season and place even greater emphasis on athleticism and ball retention. In that scenario, Bouaddi’s profile would complement Rice’s qualities, potentially creating one of the most dynamic midfield pairings in the Premier League.
However, any move is expected to be expensive.
The Moroccan international is reportedly valued at around £60 million, and Lille are unlikely to allow one of their prized assets to leave without a significant offer. The French club have long regarded Bouaddi as one of the brightest prospects to emerge from their academy system.
His rise has been rapid.
Born and raised in France, Bouaddi progressed through Lille’s youth ranks before making his breakthrough during an injury crisis. One of his earliest major statements came when he delivered an outstanding performance against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League on his 17th birthday, helping Lille claim a memorable victory.

Since then, his reputation has continued to grow.
Although eligible to represent France, Bouaddi recently committed his international future to Morocco, a decision that has already paid dividends as he shines on the biggest stage in world football.
Interest from Arsenal is expected to intensify as the transfer window progresses, but they are unlikely to be alone in the race. Several top European clubs have been following his development closely and are aware that his value could rise even further after the World Cup.
For now, Bouaddi remains focused on Morocco’s campaign, but his performances are increasingly suggesting that a move to one of Europe’s elite clubs may only be a matter of time.
