Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as the club showing the strongest interest in signing Marcus Rashford this summer, with fresh reports suggesting they have made the most concrete approach for the Manchester United forward.
Rashford’s future remains unresolved after Barcelona decided against activating the €30 million (£26 million) option to make his loan move permanent, leaving the England international set to return to Old Trafford following the World Cup.
Although Barcelona have not completely ruled out revisiting a deal later in the transfer window, Manchester United are understood to prefer a permanent sale rather than another loan agreement. The club are keen to reduce their wage bill and remain open to offers for the 28-year-old.

According to reports in Italy, Tottenham have taken the lead in the race after holding the most advanced discussions with Rashford’s camp so far.
While clubs including Roma and Napoli have explored the possibility of a move, neither Serie A side currently considers Rashford a priority due to the financial package involved. Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe have also been linked, with the Turkish clubs continuing to monitor the situation.
Premier League clubs Aston Villa and Newcastle United have likewise been credited with interest, but Spurs are currently regarded as the most active suitors as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new campaign.
Despite the speculation, Rashford could still remain at Manchester United if no suitable transfer materialises.
Recent reports indicate the forward has held positive talks with the club and is prepared to rejoin Michael Carrick’s squad for pre-season. Manchester United have no intention of freezing him out and are willing to reintegrate him while continuing to assess offers throughout the remainder of the transfer window.
Carrick is understood to view Rashford as a valuable option should he remain at Old Trafford, even though both player and club continue to favour a permanent separation if the right proposal arrives.
With Barcelona’s interest cooling following their pursuit of other attacking targets, Tottenham may now have a clearer path to completing one of the summer’s most eye-catching Premier League transfers.
