Crystal Palace have opened discussions with Chelsea over a loan deal for defender Axel Disasi as they look to strengthen their back line before the summer transfer window closes.
Sky Sports News reporter James Savundra says the two London clubs are in talks over a temporary move for the 28-year-old France international.
The negotiations could offer Disasi another route away from Stamford Bridge after he slipped out of Chelsea’s first-team plans.
More recent reports suggest talks have already progressed beyond the initial discussions, with Chelsea and Palace said to have reached a verbal agreement over a paid season-long loan without an option to buy. An agreement with Disasi would still be required before the transfer can be completed.
The French centre-back has found himself on the fringes at Chelsea and has not made a competitive first-team appearance for the Blues since January 2025.
Disasi joined Chelsea from Monaco in August 2023 for around £38.5m, signing a six-year contract. He initially featured regularly and scored on his Premier League debut against Liverpool.
His position at Stamford Bridge subsequently changed dramatically.
Disasi spent the second half of the 2024/25 season on loan at Aston Villa before another temporary spell with West Ham United during the second half of last season.
Now Crystal Palace could become his third Premier League loan destination.
Palace’s interest comes as the club reshapes its defence ahead of the new campaign. The Eagles have lost Maxence Lacroix to Chelsea and Marc Guehi to Manchester City, creating a need for additional experience at centre-back.
Disasi’s Premier League experience could make him an attractive short-term solution.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are continuing efforts to streamline their squad under Xabi Alonso. Disasi is among several players who could leave Stamford Bridge before the transfer deadline, alongside attacking players including Nicolas Jackson and Liam Delap.
Earlier negotiations between Palace and Chelsea had reportedly stalled over the financial terms of a loan. Chelsea were said to be seeking around €5m for a season-long deal without a purchase clause.
The latest developments suggest those discussions have now moved forward significantly.
While the transfer has not yet been officially completed, Palace are increasingly well positioned to provide Disasi with another opportunity to play regular Premier League football away from Stamford Bridge.
