Inter Milan have revived their interest in Tottenham Hotspur defender Djed Spence as the Italian champions explore alternatives to Moussa Diaby.
According to Sky in Italy, the England international has returned to Inter’s shortlist after negotiations over a move for former Aston Villa winger Diaby hit difficulties.
Inter have been pursuing Diaby, who plays for Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad, as they look to strengthen their options at wing-back. However, the proposed deal is currently struggling to progress because the clubs remain apart over the player’s valuation.
That has prompted Inter to reconsider Spence, who was already among their leading targets earlier in the summer.
The Serie A giants’ interest in the Tottenham full-back is not new. Sky Sports reported in July that Spence was one of several players being considered by Inter as they searched for a replacement for Denzel Dumfries following his move to Real Madrid.
Spence subsequently remained on Inter’s shortlist, with Sky Sports reporting later in July that the Italian club continued to admire the defender.
The major obstacle could be Tottenham’s valuation.
Sky in Italy reports that Spurs would want a total package worth around £30 million before agreeing to sell the England international. Recent reports have similarly placed Tottenham’s asking price around that level.
Spence still has three years remaining on his Tottenham contract, with the north London club holding an option to extend his stay by another season.
The 26-year-old joined Tottenham from Middlesbrough in July 2022 in a deal initially worth £12.5 million and potentially rising to £20 million with performance-related add-ons.
His stock has risen significantly since then, with Spence establishing himself at senior international level and representing England at the 2026 World Cup.
Inter’s renewed interest means Spence could now emerge as a serious option should their attempts to secure Diaby fail.
For Tottenham, however, any deal appears likely to depend on whether Inter are prepared to meet their valuation for a player who remains under long-term contractual control.
