Romelu Lukaku is set to leave Napoli for Fenerbahçe after the two clubs reached an agreement for the Belgian striker.
Fenerbahçe returned with an improved proposal worth more than €6 million after an earlier €5 million offer for the 33-year-old. Napoli have now given the green light for the transfer to proceed.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reports that Lukaku has already agreed personal terms with the Turkish giants, clearing another major hurdle towards completing the move.
A verbal agreement is currently in place between the clubs, with the paperwork expected to be checked and exchanged before the transfer is formally completed.
The move will bring Lukaku’s two-year stay in Naples to an end.
Napoli signed the Belgium international permanently from Chelsea in August 2024 for a reported €30 million, reuniting him with Antonio Conte following their successful spell together at Inter Milan.
Lukaku made an immediate impact in Naples and played an important role as Napoli won the Serie A title in his first season, scoring in their 2-0 victory over Cagliari on the final day that secured the Scudetto.
His second campaign was considerably more difficult.
A serious thigh injury suffered before the 2025/26 season kept him out for several months, severely restricting his appearances. He returned to action later in the campaign but struggled to regain the prominent role he had enjoyed during his first year.
Lukaku still travelled to the 2026 World Cup with Belgium and featured during the tournament after overcoming his fitness problems.
He now appears poised for another chapter in a career that has taken him across some of Europe’s biggest leagues.
The former Chelsea, Manchester United and Everton striker has already experienced Turkish football indirectly through numerous transfer links during his career, but a completed move to Fenerbahçe would represent his first spell playing in the country.
Fenerbahçe are strengthening aggressively as they attempt to challenge domestic rivals Galatasaray and make an impact in Europe.
For Napoli, accepting a relatively modest fee also removes the wages of a veteran striker whose contract was due to expire in June 2027.
The transfer is not yet officially complete. The clubs must finalise and sign the necessary documents before Lukaku can formally become a Fenerbahçe player.
But with an agreement reached between Napoli and Fenerbahçe and personal terms already settled, the deal is now understood to be at the final paperwork stage.
