Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on an agreement with Manchester City for Omar Marmoush as Spurs push ahead with an extraordinary double raid on their Premier League rivals.

Talks over the Egypt international are at an advanced stage and progressing positively, according to Sky Sports News. Marmoush is also understood to be on board with a move to north London.

The Guardian reports that the proposed transfer is worth about £75 million. If completed at that figure, it would follow Tottenham’s agreement to pay up to £85 million for Brazilian winger Savinho, taking the potential value of the two City deals to £160 million.

Marmoush talks move towards agreement

Sky Sports News reports that Tottenham are now “very close” to reaching an agreement for Marmoush, with negotiations between the clubs continuing. No completed transfer has yet been announced.

The 27-year-old joined Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025. City paid an initial £59 million, with a further £4.2 million available in bonuses, and handed the Egyptian a five-year contract.

Marmoush has since faced significant competition for attacking places at City. The Guardian reports that he was not a regular starter under former manager Pep Guardiola, with Erling Haaland among those competing with him for a place.

Unlike Savinho, however, Marmoush has not asked to leave Manchester City.

City head coach Enzo Maresca confirmed the distinction on Friday, saying Savinho had expressed a desire to depart from the beginning of his tenure while Marmoush had made no such request.

Spurs eye stunning £160m City double

Tottenham’s pursuit of Marmoush comes as they move towards completing their deal for Savinho.

Spurs have agreed to pay £75 million initially for the 22-year-old Brazil international, with another £10 million available in add-ons. Of that additional amount, £5 million is understood to be effectively guaranteed, meaning City stand to collect at least £80 million. Savinho was scheduled to undergo a Tottenham medical on Friday afternoon.

Landing both forwards would underline Tottenham’s huge investment in Roberto De Zerbi’s squad.

Spurs have already spent more than £200 million on six first-team additions this summer. Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes cost a combined £185 million, while defender Jan Paul van Hecke arrived from Brighton for £52 million. Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka joined on free transfers.

The Guardian calculates that completing the Savinho and Marmoush transfers would take Tottenham’s summer investment to about £387 million.

City face major attacking reshuffle

The potential departure of both players would leave Manchester City needing to reshape their attacking options with less than two weeks remaining in the transfer window.

Sky Sports News reporter Ben Ransom said City would want replacements if both players leave and suggested at least one replacement would be necessary.

Marmoush’s situation remains less advanced than a completed transfer, but the latest development represents a significant step towards Tottenham securing another major attacking signing.
