Manchester United have reportedly contacted Eintracht Frankfurt to register their interest French striker Hugo Ekitike who has been billed as the next Kylian Mbappe.

A report by Sky Germany says the Red Devils want to rival Chelsea and Liverpool for the 22-year-old striker who lit up the Bundesliga with 15 goals and eight assists this past season.

Frankfurt who finished third in the league, courtesy in part to Ekitike’s goals, are said to have a slapped a price tag of around £85m (€100m) on him.

On Thursday United announced the signing of Wolves star Matheus Cunha for £62.5million and they are actively working on a deal to sign Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo.

Although they have striker Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee on their books, the duo has struggled for confidence and goals and manager Ruben Amorin wants to address the issue in the market.

Its thought several clubs in the Serie A are interested in both strikers given they thrived in the league with Atalanta and Bologna respectively which is what earned them moves to Old Trafford.
