Arsenal are intensifying their pursuit of Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers after reports suggested the Midlands club could be willing to lower their asking price for one of their most prized assets.

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder has become one of the Premier League’s most sought-after talents following a remarkable rise since joining Aston Villa from Middlesbrough in February 2024.

Since arriving at Villa Park in an £8 million deal, Rogers has developed into a key figure for Unai Emery’s side, contributing 31 goals and 29 assists in 125 appearances. His performances have also attracted attention from several of England’s biggest clubs, with Arsenal emerging as the strongest contender for his signature.

Mikel Arteta is understood to view Rogers as an ideal addition to his attacking options, particularly amid uncertainty surrounding the futures of both Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard. Arsenal are keen to add greater creativity, versatility and goal threat to their frontline as they prepare for another title challenge.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently stated that Rogers remains Arsenal’s priority target ahead of other attacking options on their shortlist. While Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola continues to be admired by the North London club, Arsenal’s primary focus is reportedly on securing a deal for the Aston Villa star.

Interest in Rogers has also come from Chelsea and Manchester United, but Arsenal are currently regarded as the club pushing hardest to complete a transfer.

A significant breakthrough may have emerged regarding Villa’s valuation.

Previous reports suggested Aston Villa would demand as much as £100 million to part with Rogers, reflecting both his importance to the team and his long-term contract, which runs until 2031.

However, fresh reports indicate Villa may now be prepared to listen to offers in the region of £80 million, potentially making a deal more achievable for interested clubs.

Despite the speculation, Rogers is not believed to be actively pushing for an exit. The England international remains happy at Villa Park, although reports suggest he would be open to joining Arsenal should an agreement be reached between the two clubs.

No formal negotiations have yet taken place between Arsenal and Aston Villa, but discussions surrounding the player’s future are expected to intensify as the transfer window progresses.

Rogers’ ability to operate across multiple attacking positions has made him especially attractive to Arsenal’s recruitment team. Capable of playing on either wing, as a number 10 or in a more central attacking role, he offers the versatility Arteta values highly within his squad.

With Arsenal eager to strengthen their attack and Villa reportedly softening their stance on a potential sale, Morgan Rogers is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched transfer stories of the summer.
