Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has no interest in joining Tottenham Hotspur this summer despite growing interest from the North London club, with the England international still prioritising a return to Barcelona.
Rashford is expected to leave Old Trafford following the end of his successful loan spell at Barcelona. Although the Spanish champions opted not to activate the £26 million purchase option before the June 15 deadline, the 28-year-old remains determined to continue his career at the Camp Nou.
Tottenham have emerged as surprise contenders for Rashford’s signature as Roberto De Zerbi looks to strengthen his attacking options. Spurs are understood to have considered triggering the £40 million release clause in the forward’s Manchester United contract, while reports have suggested they would be willing to match his salary of around £325,000 per week.
However, Rashford is not convinced by the prospect of remaining in the Premier League. According to multiple reports, the England international would rather move abroad again, with Barcelona remaining his first choice despite the Catalan club’s decision not to complete a permanent deal earlier this month. Bayern Munich are also monitoring his situation.
TEAMtalk also reports that Barcelona have not abandoned hopes of bringing Rashford back. The La Liga champions are believed to be prepared to wait until later in the transfer window in the hope Manchester United lower their demands or become open to another deal structure.
Manchester United, meanwhile, remain eager to sell the forward as part of their summer rebuild under Michael Carrick. Offloading Rashford’s wages would free up significant room on the club’s payroll while generating funds for further recruitment following the arrival of midfielder Ederson from Atalanta.
Rashford enjoyed an impressive campaign in Spain, contributing 14 goals and 14 assists in 49 appearances as Barcelona won the La Liga title. His performances have earned widespread praise, with former Spain midfielder Gaizka Mendieta recently describing him as one of Barcelona’s standout performers during the season.
Despite Tottenham’s interest, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has played down suggestions that negotiations are advanced. Romano maintains there are currently no serious talks between Spurs and Rashford, although he acknowledges the forward’s future remains unresolved while Barcelona continue monitoring developments.
For now, Rashford’s priority has not changed. The Manchester United academy graduate is focused on England’s World Cup campaign, but once the tournament concludes, attention is expected to turn to resolving his club future. Unless Barcelona withdraw from the race completely, a return to Spain remains the outcome Rashford is hoping to achieve.
