Arsenal’s pursuit of Christos Tzolis has gathered fresh momentum after the Club Brugge winger reportedly decided to put another transfer opportunity on hold while he waits for a possible move to the Emirates Stadium.
The Greece international has emerged as one of Arsenal’s leading targets to strengthen the left side of Mikel Arteta’s attack following an outstanding campaign in Belgium. Tzolis scored 22 goals and provided 29 assists in 52 appearances for Club Brugge last season, attracting interest from several clubs across Europe.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Arsenal remain in regular contact with the 24-year-old’s representatives and that the player has made joining the north London club his priority. According to Romano, another club recently attempted to enter the race, but Tzolis’ camp responded that they were waiting to see whether Arsenal would complete a deal.
The proposed move is closely linked to the future of Leandro Trossard.
Arsenal are understood to be waiting for the Belgian winger to give his final approval to a move to Turkish side Besiktas before accelerating negotiations for Tzolis. Romano says an agreement between Arsenal and Besiktas is already in place, with the Turkish club now awaiting Trossard’s decision after positive discussions over personal terms.
Should Trossard complete his departure, Arsenal are expected to move quickly to secure Tzolis, who has already made it clear he wants the transfer. Club Brugge are also believed to be preparing for the possibility of losing one of their standout performers this summer.
The former Norwich City winger has rebuilt his reputation impressively since leaving English football. After flourishing on loan at Fortuna Düsseldorf, Tzolis earned a permanent move before joining Club Brugge, where he has developed into one of Europe’s most productive attacking players.
Arsenal view Tzolis as a player capable of adding goals, creativity and depth to their attacking options as they prepare to compete on multiple fronts next season. Sporting director Andrea Berta has been leading negotiations as the club continues to reshape Arteta’s squad.
While the Gunners continue to monitor other attacking targets, including Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, Tzolis appears to be the player most likely to arrive if Trossard leaves north London before the transfer window closes.
With the player prepared to wait and Arsenal ready to act, attention now turns to Trossard’s decision, which could trigger the next major move in the Gunners’ summer transfer plans.
