Manchester United have made it clear that Mason Mount is not for sale despite attracting significant interest from clubs across England and Europe during the summer transfer window.
The England international has endured an injury-disrupted spell since completing his £60 million move from Chelsea in 2023, but United remain convinced he still has a major role to play under head coach Michael Carrick.
Several clubs have sounded out the possibility of signing the 27-year-old in recent weeks. Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Fulham have all made enquiries from within the Premier League, while Serie A giants Inter Milan and Napoli have also explored whether a deal could be possible. Bundesliga side RB Leipzig are understood to be among the overseas clubs monitoring his situation.
Manchester United, however, have issued the same response to every interested club: Mount is staying at Old Trafford.
Carrick is believed to be one of the midfielder’s biggest supporters inside the club and remains convinced Mount can rediscover the form that saw him become one of Chelsea’s standout performers and an established England international before his move to Manchester.
The United manager reportedly values Mount’s tactical intelligence, versatility and relentless work rate, while the midfielder also continues to enjoy strong support within the dressing room. Carrick is said to believe that a sustained run of fitness could finally allow the former Chelsea star to fulfil his potential in a United shirt.
Mount has struggled to establish himself since arriving at Old Trafford, with injuries limiting his impact over the past three seasons. He has made 72 appearances for the Red Devils, including 12 Premier League starts during the 2025/26 campaign, but has yet to consistently reproduce the performances that made him a Champions League winner with Chelsea.
His status as one of Manchester United’s highest earners has inevitably fuelled speculation over a possible departure, particularly given the club’s ongoing squad rebuild. Despite that, sources indicate neither United nor Mount are actively seeking an exit.
Instead, both parties are focused on ensuring the midfielder enjoys a fresh start under Carrick as United prepare for a season that includes a return to Champions League football. Club officials believe Mount still has the quality to become an influential figure if he can remain fit.
With United rejecting every enquiry received so far, Mount is expected to remain at Old Trafford as Carrick continues to place his faith in one of the club’s most talented, but also most unfortunate, midfielders.
