Aston Villa have emerged as strong contenders to sign West Ham United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka, while Fulham are also exploring a move for the 28-year-old.
Sky Sports News reports that Wan-Bissaka is increasingly likely to make the switch to Villa Park, although its latest update said there had yet to be direct talks between Aston Villa and West Ham.
Other reports on Wednesday suggested the situation may already have progressed further. talkSPORT reported that Villa had entered talks with West Ham over a potential transfer, with the Hammers reportedly valuing the defender at around £25 million.
That puts Villa in a potentially strong position in the race for the former Manchester United defender, but Fulham are also weighing up a deal.
The Cottagers are understood to favour a season-long loan containing an option to make the transfer permanent.
According to information attributed to a Sky Sports News source, the proposed loan fee would be £2 million. However, there is currently a difference between the clubs over the valuation that would apply to the option to buy.
Wan-Bissaka’s future has attracted attention following West Ham’s relegation from the Premier League.
The right-back joined the Hammers from Manchester United in August 2024, signing a seven-year contract. West Ham’s official profile confirms that his deal runs until 2031. He had previously made 190 appearances for Manchester United after joining them from Crystal Palace in 2019.
Wan-Bissaka enjoyed an impressive first campaign at the London Stadium and was subsequently named West Ham’s Hammer of the Year for the 2024/25 season.
The Croydon-born defender has since committed his international future to DR Congo. He made his senior international debut in September 2025 and helped the Leopards secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
West Ham are therefore in a relatively strong contractual position should Premier League clubs attempt to prise him away this summer.
Reports earlier in the transfer window suggested the Hammers were prepared to demand a substantial fee for Wan-Bissaka, with interest also emerging from overseas.
Villa’s interest could now provide Wan-Bissaka with a route straight back to the Premier League, while Fulham’s proposed loan structure offers West Ham a different option.
With multiple clubs circling and the new season approaching, the defender’s future could become one of West Ham’s key transfer decisions before the summer window closes.
