New manager Ruben Amorim lands his first signing as AC Milan spend more than £60 million to bring Portugal striker Goncalo Ramos to San Siro.
AC Milan have completed the signing of Portugal international Goncalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain in a deal reported to be worth more than £60 million, making him the most expensive player in the club’s history.
The 25-year-old striker has signed a contract running until 2031, becoming the first major arrival under new head coach Ruben Amorim as Milan begin rebuilding following a disappointing campaign.
Italian media report the transfer fee exceeds €70 million, comfortably surpassing the club’s previous record outlay for Rafael Leao, who joined from Lille in 2019.
Amorim was appointed last month after Massimiliano Allegri was dismissed following a dramatic collapse in form that saw the Rossoneri miss out on UEFA Champions League qualification.
Ramos arrives in Italy after three successful seasons with Paris Saint-Germain, where he scored 45 goals in 131 appearances and collected multiple trophies, including consecutive UEFA Champions League titles and three Ligue 1 crowns.
The Portuguese forward, who developed through Benfica’s academy before moving to Paris, is expected to spearhead Milan’s attack as the club targets an immediate return to Europe’s elite competition.
Paris Saint-Germain are already planning for life after Ramos. The French champions continue to be linked with RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande as chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi, sporting adviser Luis Campos and head coach Luis Enrique shape the next phase of the squad.
PSG are also expected to reduce the size of their squad during the transfer window, with Lee Kang-in and Randal Kolo Muani among the players who could leave before the start of the new season.
For Milan, the arrival of Ramos represents a significant statement of intent. After a difficult season that ended without Champions League football, the Italian giants have backed Amorim with a record-breaking investment as they seek to restore the club to the top of European football.
