Arsenal remain determined to sign Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis this summer, even as they pursue high-profile moves for Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers and Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola.
The Gunners have tracked the Greece international for several months and continue to view him as an important part of their plans to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s attacking options ahead of the new season.
Sporting director Andrea Berta is overseeing a major reshaping of Arsenal’s frontline following Leandro Trossard’s expected departure to Besiktas, while the club are also prepared to listen to offers for Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus.
Despite those potential exits, Arsenal are not simply looking for like-for-like replacements.
Arteta has made it clear he wants more competition and greater depth across the forward line after seeing the importance of a strong squad during last season’s title-winning campaign. Club Brugge’s Tzolis continues to feature prominently in those discussions alongside bigger-money targets such as Rogers and Barcola.
The 24-year-old has rebuilt his career impressively since leaving Norwich City, emerging as one of Europe’s most productive wide attackers in Belgium.
Across the past two seasons, Tzolis has registered an outstanding 43 goals and 45 assists in all competitions, performances that have attracted interest from several leading European clubs.
Club Brugge are understood to be preparing for the possibility of losing the winger before the transfer window closes.
The Belgian champions are expected to demand a club-record transfer fee, with Arsenal aware they will likely need to exceed the €37.5 million (£32.5m) received from AC Milan for Charles De Ketelaere in 2022 if they are to complete a deal.
Arsenal’s continued interest in Tzolis is not expected to affect their pursuit of Morgan Rogers, who remains the club’s priority marquee signing, or Bradley Barcola, who is also admired by Arteta.
Instead, the Gunners are exploring the possibility of signing both a headline arrival and Tzolis as they look to build one of the Premier League’s deepest attacking units.
Having already established himself as a regular for Greece and flourished in both domestic and European competitions with Club Brugge, Tzolis is viewed as a player capable of making an immediate impact while also offering long-term value.
With Arsenal expected to accelerate their transfer business once outgoing deals are completed, the former Norwich City winger remains firmly in contention for a return to English football.
