Bournemouth have reaffirmed that Alex Scott is not for sale this summer despite the midfielder turning down a new long-term contract, with the club determined to retain one of their most highly rated players.
The 22-year-old has attracted strong interest following an impressive campaign that cemented his reputation as one of England’s brightest young midfielders. His performances also earned him a place in England’s pre-World Cup training squad, increasing speculation over his future.
Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea have all made enquiries during the current transfer window, but Bournemouth have consistently delivered the same response: Scott is not available for transfer. Club officials have refused to negotiate a fee or even discuss a possible valuation with interested clubs.
The Cherries had hoped to secure Scott’s long-term future by offering him an improved contract that included a substantial pay rise. The proposed deal also featured a release clause, similar to the arrangement agreed with Antoine Semenyo, giving the midfielder a potential route to a future move while rewarding his importance to the club.
Despite those incentives, Scott declined the offer.
However, Bournemouth’s position has not changed. With two years still remaining on his current contract, the club remain confident they can keep the former Bristol City star and continue contract discussions at a later date rather than cashing in this summer.
New head coach Marco Rose is understood to regard Scott as a key part of his long-term plans, with Bournemouth keen to build their squad around the talented midfielder as they prepare for another demanding Premier League campaign.
Bournemouth’s resolve has also been strengthened by the soaring transfer market for elite English talent.
Recent high-profile deals involving players such as Elliot Anderson and Morgan Rogers have pushed valuations to record levels, leading the Cherries to believe Scott’s market value is approaching the £100 million mark, even though they have no intention of selling him.
That valuation, combined with Bournemouth’s refusal to negotiate, leaves Scott’s admirers facing a difficult challenge. While Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea continue to monitor the situation, the South Coast club insist their stance remains unchanged.
For now, Bournemouth’s message is unequivocal: Alex Scott is staying.
