Fresh speculation linking Jurgen Klopp with the Real Madrid job has been firmly dismissed by the former Liverpool manager’s representatives.

The German coach has found himself at the centre of transfer-style rumours after Real Madrid presidential candidate Enrique Riquelme publicly declared Klopp as his preferred choice to take charge of the Spanish giants if he wins the club’s upcoming election.

However, Klopp’s agent, Marc Kosicke, has quickly shut down the idea, describing the growing speculation as frustrating and making it clear that his client has no plans to leave his current position with Red Bull.

Riquelme has made a series of ambitious promises as part of his campaign, including claims that he would attempt to bring Klopp to the Santiago Bernabeu alongside high-profile stars such as Erling Haaland and Rodri. The businessman believes the prestige of Real Madrid could tempt Klopp back into football management despite his previous statements about stepping away from coaching.

But Klopp’s camp has poured cold water on those hopes.

According to Kosicke, the former Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund manager is happy in his role as Red Bull’s Head of Global Football and has no ambition to return to day-to-day club management at this time.

Klopp walked away from Liverpool in 2024 after transforming the club into one of Europe’s dominant forces. During his spell at Anfield, he delivered the Premier League title, Champions League crown, FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup, cementing his place among the club’s greatest-ever managers.

Since leaving the dugout, Klopp has repeatedly indicated that he is enjoying life away from the relentless demands of coaching. His current role sees him oversee football operations across Red Bull’s global network of clubs rather than managing a team on a daily basis.

The latest comments from his agent appear to end any immediate hopes of a sensational move to Madrid, leaving Riquelme’s campaign facing another setback as he attempts to convince members that he can deliver some of football’s biggest names.

For now, Klopp remains focused on his executive duties, with a return to the touchline looking no closer despite continued interest from some of the game’s biggest clubs.
