Liverpool make Mohamed Salah decision as Real Madrid circle Mac Allister

Reds remain firm on Egyptian star's exit while Spanish giants keep tabs on Argentine midfielder

Liverpool have no intention of reversing their decision on Mohamed Salah’s future despite fresh speculation suggesting the Egyptian star could remain at Anfield.

Salah announced earlier this year that he would leave Liverpool at the end of the season following a disappointing campaign and a reported breakdown in his relationship with former manager Arne Slot.

Although Slot has since departed and been replaced by former Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola, Liverpool’s stance on Salah has not changed.

Speculation over a possible U-turn intensified after Egypt goalkeeper Ahmed El-Shenawy claimed the forward was still uncertain about his future and suggested circumstances could yet change.

“The prospect of leaving Liverpool has affected Mo psychologically, but the situation might change and he could still stay with the team,” El-Shenawy said.

However, Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, quickly dismissed suggestions that private discussions about the player’s future had been shared publicly.

The latest update from journalist Ben Jacobs indicates Liverpool have no plans to retain the 34-year-old despite the rumours.

According to Jacobs, Fenway Sports Group remain committed to the current plan and are not considering a change of direction regarding Salah’s departure.

The update comes as Liverpool continue to reshape their squad under Iraola ahead of the new campaign.

Attention has also turned to the future of Alexis Mac Allister, who remains a long-term target for Real Madrid.

The Argentina international has been linked with a move to the Spanish giants for several transfer windows, and reports suggest interest has not cooled despite Jose Mourinho’s appointment as Real Madrid manager.

Transfer journalist Pete O’Rourke believes the midfielder remains firmly on Madrid’s radar as the club looks to strengthen its midfield options.

Real are still searching for long-term successors to club legends Toni Kroos and Luka Modric and view Mac Allister as a player capable of filling that void.

The World Cup-winning midfielder is under contract at Liverpool until 2028, but speculation continues over whether the Spanish giants could test the Reds’ resolve with an offer later this summer.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are actively exploring attacking reinforcements.

Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola has emerged as a major target after reports claimed the France international has informed the European champions of his desire to leave.

Liverpool are understood to be among the clubs monitoring the situation closely, while Arsenal are also interested in securing the highly-rated winger’s signature.

Barcola is regarded as one of the most exciting young attackers in European football and could become a key target as Liverpool prepare for life after Salah.

With major changes underway at Anfield, Liverpool face a pivotal summer as they balance high-profile departures with ambitious plans to strengthen Iraola’s squad.
