Leeds United are set to strengthen their squad ahead of the new Premier League season after reaching an agreement to sign Harry Wilson on a free transfer.

The Wales international has accepted a long-term contract at Elland Road and is expected to become Daniel Farke’s first signing of the summer once he completes a medical and the remaining formalities.

The move brings an end to Wilson’s successful spell at Fulham, where he enjoyed the most productive Premier League campaign of his career. The 29-year-old scored 10 league goals last season, finishing as the club’s leading scorer and playing a key role in their attack.

Leeds have been admirers of Wilson for some time and first attempted to sign him during last summer’s transfer window. After missing out then, they have now secured their target without paying a transfer fee following the expiry of his Fulham contract.

Wilson’s departure represents another major blow for Fulham during a summer of significant change at Craven Cottage. The club are also losing manager Marco Silva, who is expected to take charge of Benfica after his contract expired.

Fulham’s attacking options have also been weakened by the exit of Raul Jimenez. The Mexican striker scored nine Premier League goals last season before completing a return to Wolves.

Although Fulham explored the possibility of keeping Wilson, interest from several Premier League clubs complicated their efforts. Aston Villa and Everton were both monitoring the winger’s situation, but Leeds ultimately won the race for his signature.

Wilson arrives with extensive top-flight experience and a proven record of producing goals and assists. The former Liverpool academy graduate has previously enjoyed spells with Bournemouth, Derby County, Hull City and Cardiff City, while becoming an important player for the Welsh national team.

Leeds are expected to remain active in the transfer market as they prepare for life back in the Premier League. The club are also reportedly interested in former Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Brandt, who is available as a free agent following his departure from the Bundesliga side.

For now, however, Wilson represents a major early coup for Leeds as they seek to add creativity, experience and goals to Daniel Farke’s squad ahead of the new campaign.
