Manchester United and Arsenal have reportedly been given renewed hope in their pursuit of Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott after the Cherries reduced their asking price for the England international.

Scott has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most sought-after young midfielders following another impressive campaign on the south coast. The 23-year-old has attracted interest from several top clubs, with Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool all monitoring his situation ahead of a potential summer move.

Earlier reports suggested Bournemouth would demand around £80 million for Scott. However, fresh reports indicate the club could now be willing to negotiate at a figure closer to £60 million, significantly increasing the chances of a transfer. The reduction comes amid uncertainty over Scott’s long-term future, with talks over a new contract yet to produce an agreement despite his current deal running until 2028.

Manchester United remain particularly interested as they continue reshaping their midfield. Although the club are close to completing a deal for Atalanta midfielder Ederson, manager Michael Carrick is still keen to add further quality in central areas.

Scott is viewed as a player capable of complementing Ederson’s energy and defensive qualities, while also providing creativity and technical ability in possession. United have also considered alternatives such as Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton, Brighton’s Carlos Baleba and West Ham United’s Mateus Fernandes, but Scott remains firmly on their shortlist.

Arsenal have also maintained a long-standing interest in the former Bristol City star. Mikel Arteta is believed to be keen on adding greater depth and versatility to his midfield options, with Scott’s ability to operate in multiple central roles making him an attractive target.

Bournemouth are entering a new chapter under manager Marco Rose following Andoni Iraola’s departure to Liverpool, and the club could face a battle to keep hold of some of their most valuable assets.

Scott joined Bournemouth from Bristol City in 2023 and has continued to enhance his reputation with a series of mature performances in the Premier League. His displays have also strengthened his standing within the England setup, with many viewing him as one of the country’s brightest midfield prospects.

While no formal bids have yet been submitted, the lowering of Bournemouth’s valuation is expected to spark further interest as clubs look to strengthen before the new season.

With Manchester United and Arsenal both in the market for midfield reinforcements, Alex Scott’s future could become one of the summer’s most closely watched transfer stories.
