Ferran Torres has taken a major step towards leaving Barcelona after reaching an agreement on personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain and informing the Catalan club that he wants to make the move.
The 26-year-old Spain international has given his approval to the PSG project, clearing the way for negotiations between the two clubs over a transfer fee.
Reports in France and Spain indicate that Torres has agreed the terms of a five-year contract with PSG. The deal cannot be completed, however, until the French champions reach an agreement with Barcelona.
Barcelona are not expected to force Torres to remain at the Camp Nou against his wishes.
The forward has made his preference clear to the club, and Barcelona are prepared to negotiate if PSG meet their valuation. Recent reports suggest the Spanish champions are seeking a package worth around €50 million.
PSG’s pursuit has gathered pace after Torres signalled his willingness to move to Paris. The French club are looking to strengthen their attacking options and have now moved into direct discussions with Barcelona.
A switch would also reunite Torres with PSG coach Luis Enrique, who worked extensively with the attacker during his time in charge of the Spain national team. Reports suggest the coach has been influential in PSG’s decision to pursue the Barcelona forward.
Torres’ potential departure would represent a significant development for Barcelona following a productive 2025-26 campaign.
The former Manchester City forward finished as Barcelona’s joint-leading scorer in La Liga with 16 goals, level with Lamine Yamal.
Torres initially joined Barcelona from Manchester City in January 2022 after previously establishing himself in La Liga with Valencia. His versatility has allowed him to operate on either wing or through the middle during his time in Catalonia.
His future has nevertheless become increasingly uncertain this summer, and the player’s decision to approve a PSG move has now shifted the focus firmly towards negotiations between the clubs.
Reports on Saturday suggested those discussions are progressing, with some sources describing a €50m agreement as increasingly close, although no final transfer has yet been officially confirmed.
With personal terms settled and Barcelona willing to negotiate, the remaining question is whether PSG and the Spanish champions can settle on a fee.
